There are 41 species of rattlesnakes in the genus Crotalus. These tend to be medium to large rattlesnakes that range from Canada to northern South America and they are most diverse ion Mexico. However, in the USA, Arizona has 13 species, more than another state. Bites to dogs or humans from these snakes should be treated as a medical emergency.
